Easy Way to Reduce Electricity Bills: Skylight

While buying a house these days, people everywhere desires for lots of daylight. Daylight not only brings lots of light in the house but also the positivity in the form of light.

To go further we first need to understand about what skylight is? Skylight let light on the roof travel across the room. It is a form of structure which is constructed at a place where other form of daylight is not possible and the only option left is to open the roof by putting just a glass so that the light can pass easily.

If we look into the history of skylight, we will see that the idea is picked from Ancient roman architecture and then people started using glazed close skylights when industrial revolution started. Slowly and slowly, skylight got lots of popularity due to its energy conservation feature.

Not only this, it is an eco-friendly and cost effective way to lighten up the room or your home and of course instead of artificial light using daylight for getting some light in the room will save energy and you will be surprise to see your electricity bill.

Now, people use skylight mainly in three different ways. Of course the first way is the traditional and most popular one where skylight is fixed on the roof. Another way is get it fixed on the ceiling and third way to fix a duct between the top structure and the ceiling frame.

Skylight is mainly produced for home as residential purpose, public and for commercial and industrial buildings. It is becoming popular as it has proved to be most effective for people as lots of daylight means less use of electrical lights and it also save energy.

Like every coin has a negative side, skylight also has some disadvantages. The light from them mainly depends on the climatic condition. On the bright sunny day, one will get lots of light but if it is a rainy and stormy day the light coming from the skylight will be very less. Also the light passing from it will be more during the morning time and afternoon but as the day will shift towards evening the daylight coming from it will be less in comparison of afternoon.

So the light passing from skylight mainly depends on climatic conditions, time of the day and season of the year. So we cannot depend on skylight completely and we need to put electrical lights as well. In other words, the amount of daylight provided by this skylight is directly related to light actually available outside and it will vary accordingly.
